In April 2017, Mitsubishi Rayon merged with Mitsubishi Chemical and Mitsubishi Plastics to form Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation under Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings (now Mitsubishi Chemical Group Corporation). The golf‑shaft business continues under the new entity.

Choosing the best begins with materials

We begin with Monomer, Precursor fiber, Carbon Fiber, Resin, Prepreg sheets—produced in-house from the earliest stages. Over decades, we have developed resins and carbon fibers with a wide range of properties. This vertically integrated system allows us to innovate starting even at the fiber/resin levels to achieve desired shaft performance. Since 2015, we also produce both PAN‑based and pitch‑based carbon fiber—which further expands our material advantages. In short, material differences drive performance differences.

  Monomer

  We manufacture high‑quality acrylonitrile (AN), the monomer for PAN‑based carbon fiber.

• 

  Precursor fiber

  AN monomers are polymerized into PAN, then spun into long‑length fibers. Fiber uniformity dictates carbon quality.

• 

  Carbon Fiber (CF)

  PAN is carbonized to produce lightweight, strong carbon fiber used across aerospace, wind power, sports, etc.

  Resin

  Various resins are developed and matched optimally to carbon fiber for molding.

• 

  Prepreg

  Carbon fibers aligned, resin‑impregnated into sheets (including cross‑prepreg and metal‑reinforced).

• 

  Golf Shaft

  Prepreg sheets are cut, wrapped around steel mandrels, cured into shafts, and undergo strict inspection before delivery worldwide.
